Full-Day/Full-Year Lead Teacher
Knox County Head Start (KCHS) seeks passionate Early Childhood Educators inspired to guide children’s healthy development and learning in a full-day/full-year classroom in Mount Vernon.

Preschool teachers implement the Creative Curriculum and Conscious Discipline® with children served under the Head Start program and private pay childcare. Teachers support children’s development with screenings and assessment utilizing developmentally appropriate strategies. Teachers establish partnerships with parents to assist parents in their role as children’s first and most important teacher. The teacher actively trains and develops assistant teachers and teacher aides in the classroom.
The successful candidate will have at minimum of an associate degree in Early Childhood Development/Education or a related field; a bachelor’s degree is preferred. The successful candidate will possess strong computer skills and/or data entry experience.
Infant / Toddler Teacher Aide
Knox County Head Start has an opening for an Infant/Toddler Teacher Aide at the New Hope Early Education Center. The right candidate will have a deep love for working with young children and their families and be an enthusiastic team player. The purpose of this position is to support high quality infant and toddler care in a full day, full year classroom. Minimum of one-year experience working with Infants and Toddlers and a CDA or willingness to immediately pursue training in caring for infants and toddlers, and a CDA. Early Child Home Educator
The purpose of this position is to provide child development, parent education, and family support on home visits to families of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and expectant mothers. Home Educators must be able to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with children and families being served. Additionally, this position will plan/provide parent group socialization meetings, maintain case management, help parents and families to set goals, link families to needed support services, and advocate for families being served within our community. This is a full time, full year benefited position.
The successful candidate will have a BA in Early Childhood Education or a related field. Candidates with other education and experience may be considered but must be willing to obtain additional training and credentialing within the first year of employment.

Knox County Head Start’s classes are full and we’re continuing to grow! We have immediate openings but we also want to have teachers lined up for positions as they open.
We are seeking applicants to work with children ages zero to five. Lead teachers must qualify with a minimum of an Associate’s degree in ECE. We are also looking for long-term substitutes to fill in daily for 6-12 week stretches during upcoming maternity leaves as well as on-call substitutes to cover staff absences.
