Center of Excellence

We’re One of the Ten Original National Head Start Centers of Excellence

Ohio Governor Ted Strickland nominated Knox County Head Start as one of three Ohio Head Start programs eligible to compete to be named a National Head Start Center of Excellence in December 2009. KCHS was named one of the ten original National Head Start Centers of Excellence in September 2010 by the Administration for Children and Families, Office of Head Start.

KCHS is recognized as a Center of Excellence for the programs’ commitment to continuous quality improvement, and for its comprehensive implementation of Conscious Discipline, a social emotional program implemented in KCHS classrooms and in parenting trainings. KCHS is utilizing the Center of Excellence funding award to improve program quality and to provide additional training within the Knox County community, throughout the State of Ohio and at both Regional and National Head Start trainings.

You have done wonders

This is a wonderful place for learning and everyone there is beyond caring. My son has attended for 3 years now and I almost hate to see him leave to go into kindergarten. Thanks, Head Start... you have done wonders for Kylar!
